Good News BraceletsHave you seen these around town? It's a super simple way to learn and share the Good News of Jesus using four words: Love, Sin, Jesus, Gift!
Here's a longer explanation... LOVE – The heart on the bracelet represents God’s incredible love for us. God created us in his own image and loves us more than we can understand. (1 John 4:10) SIN – But, we humans do bad things sometimes and disobey God. That is what the whistle stands for. In sports, when someone breaks the rules and does something wrong, the referee blows the whistle and a penalty (punishment) is given. The same is true in everyday life. We deserve to be punished for disobeying God. He is so perfect and we are so sinful that we deserve to be separated from him forever. (Romans 3:23) JESUS – BUT, there is Good News in the cross! God loves us so much that he chose to take the punishment that we deserve on himself. God sent his son, Jesus, into the world to die on the cross, taking the punishment for our sin. Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross, was buried, and then rose from the dead. He defeated sin and death for us! Because of this, we can be forgiven from all the bad things we have done, and we get to have eternal life in heaven with Jesus! We are no longer separated from God (John 3:16), and we get to experience new life now and for eternity. GIFT – What Jesus did for us is a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). Like all gifts, we can't earn it, but we need to accept it. If we choose not to believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again, we are rejecting God’s gift which means we are choosing eternal death and separation from God. However, if we believe that Jesus died and rose for us, we are accepting his gift. We get to look forward to eternity with Him in heaven, and we get to experience life with Jesus here on earth. "For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him." - John 3:16-17 |
